The main purpose of the Operating Room Services Associate Degree Program is to educate and train health technicians who make the equipment and materials ready for the surgery which are used in the operating rooms, prepare the operating room according to the characteristics of the operation, provide equipment and materials to the surgical team and give support during the surgery. The progress/advances in medical technology in the world and in Turkey, raises the need for educated and trained manpower/labour force to be employed who are trained to use the new technology in the operating services. The duration of education of the Operating Room Services Program is 2 (two) years and the program started education in 2017-2018 academic year. In addition to the vocational courses, students also take basic medical sciences courses and they have an obligatory internship period at the end of the first year. In addition, students are prepared for life with the help of elective courses in social and cultural fields. Our aim is to educate and train health technicians to be employed who have/gain full knowledge and skills their profession, have an attitude in this area in their professional life, have communication skills, respect ethical values, work in a team and can solve problems.
Admission of students to the Vocational School of Health Services is determined according to the results/scores of and placement test results of the exams in that academic year which is held by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in and other regulations determined by the Council of Higher Education.
Students who are eligible for enrollment in the Operating Room Services are the ones who have completed secondary education or have received an equivalent education abroad and who have achieved the required score for this program in the national university admission examination or are transferring students from another higher education institutions..For the academic recognition of these students' prior learning, you can look at the Yüksek İhtisas University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations and the Internal Transfer Directive/Guideline. After graduating from the Operating Room Services Associate Degree Programs, it is possible to study in Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services undergraduate programs as a result of the Transition to Undergraduate Programs Exam (DGS).
In the Operating Room Services associate degree program; Various assessment methods such as midterm, homework, exercise, project, professional practice, summer practice and final exam are applied. Written exams, multiple choice exams, oral exams homework, internship performances and course presentations can be used in the evaluations. In order to graduate from the program, the weighted grade point average must be at least 2.00. The grade of a course is determined as a result of the evaluation of the above elements and given as a letter. Letter grades and the coefficient of each grade are given below.

The student must not have DD, FD or FF grades from all the courses in the program respectively. Students who take one of these grades, must take the course again and must be successful in this course. Students following the education plan shown in the Vocational School and who have completed 123 ECTS for all the studies and associate degree programs mentioned in Yüksek İhtisas University Vocational School of Health Services’ Education and Examination Directive, is deemed to have completed his / her education and he / she is given the associate degree diploma and diploma supplement of the related program of the Vocational School of Health Services.
Graduates who have completed two years of education, take the title of Health Technician and Operating Room Services Technician with an associate degree.
Students who graduate from this program, can work in institutions and hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health, health care units affiliated to SSI and other public institutions and also in operating rooms in the special education and branch hospitals, private hospitals and medical centers.

All students who took the Vocational Practice course in the 2nd Year Spring Semester of the Academic Year;
1- During the course registration period, they must choose the Vocational Practice courses from the Student Affairs Information System of Yüksek İhtisas University and complete the course registrations.
2- Students whose advisors are approved after their course selections will have completed their course registration.
3- All students are required to obtain a Certificate of Ownership from SGK or e-government password (https://www.turkiye.gov.tr) - and submit it to the internship coordinator in a single file together with the photocopies of their IDs. Students who have completed their internship;
4- After completing the internship reports and the internship report card covering the work and transactions they have done during the internship, They are required to submit it to the internship coordinator within one week from the end of the internship.
