Yüksek İhtisas Üniversitesi - Information Package of Nursing Department

Yüksek İhtisas Unıversıty is a university which was established to be subject to the provisions of the Higher Education Law numbered 2547 and related to the Foundation Higher Education Institutions. It is a foundation university with public legal personality with the amendment made with the article 11 of the Law No. 6495 published in the Official Gazette No. 28726 dated 02/08/2013. The education started in the Faculty of Health Sciences In 2016-2017 Academic Year. Our department was established in 2017 within the Faculty of Health Sciences. Nursing Department accepts students with MF-3 score type. Duration of the education is 4 years. In general nursing education, in addition to courses related to basic medical sciences, occupational courses covering laboratory work and field applications are given in 7 main areas of nursing.

In paralel with the developments in the field of information and technology in the world and in our country, developments in the health sector increase the need for quality education and the need for staff in the field of nursing. The education and training for those whowant to develop a career in nursing includes both theoretical and practical training in which the theoretical knowledge is reinforced in the laboratory and hospital environment.

The main purpose of the nursing program is to provide ethical and professional care by using the nursing process, to determine the nursing care needs of healthy or sick individuals and to carry out effective and high quality health care services for the protection and development of health by adapting all kinds of developments and changes that may affect human and human health, to educate nurses who adopt values, think critically, conduct scientific research with lifelong learning awareness and use scientific research results and work as an effective member of the health team.

For Turkish and foreign students, the general admission criteria of Yüksek Ihtisas University Associate Degree and Bachelor's Degree Education and Examination Regulations are valid for starting the program.

Students who register to the program for the first time, if they apply to the Faculty of Health Sciences within seven working days following the date of enrollment, together with the documents obtained from the other Higher Education Institution in Turkey or abroad where the previous education has been received in recognition of prior learning, the Faculty Administration The courses to be exempted are determined by the Board.

Our graduates can apply to the master's and doctorate programs of Nursing Principles, Internal Medicine Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Obstetric Nursing, Mental Health and Disease Nursing, Public Health Nursing and Nursing Management within the Nursing Department.

In nursing undergraduate program;  Assessment methods such as midterm, homework, training, project, practice and final exam are applied. In the evaluations, multiple choice exams, classical exams, homework and lectures can be applied. To graduate from the program, the grade point average must be at least 2.00. In order to graduate from the program. In order for the student to be successful in the course, the course grade must be at least 60 (sixty) out of 100 (one hundred) full points. However, the final exam grade must be at least 50 (fifty) out of 100 (one hundred) full points. The provisions of Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations Yüksek İhtisas University are valid for the calculation of the course grade and evaluation of the success.

The grade of a course is determined as a result of the evaluation of the above elements and is given in letters. The letter grades and the coefficient of each note are given below.

A student who had obtained (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) is considered to have succeeded in the course. In addition, a student with a grade point average of at least 2.00 for a semester/year is considered successful from the courses to learn that semester/year (DC) grade.

The student must not have DD, FD or FF grades from all courses in the program. Students who take one of these grades must take this course again and be successful in this course. In this program, the student has to have minimum 240 ECTS credits and his / her GPA should be at least 2,00 out of 4,00. 

Graduates who have successfully completed the undergraduate program of Nursing Department can work as a clinic nurse, training nurse, supervisor nurse, clinic supervisor/chief nurse and executive nurse in all public and private health institutions and organizations.

In addition, graduated students can assume the title of ‘Specialist Nurse’, by completing their master's degree and  the title of ‘Doctor’ by completing their doctorate. Due to the increasing population and health problems all over the world and in our country, the need for manpower to carry out professional health services in the health sector is increasing. For this reason, nursing has employment opportunuties in a wide range of areas.

  3. Follows and uses information and technological developments in nursing services.

  5. Uses at least a foreign language in order to reach scientific knowledge and to communicate when necessary.
  6. Leads the ensurement of quality and safety of patient care services.
  7. Becomes a role model and leads his/her colleagues with professional identity in nursing practices.
  8. Uses critical thinking, creative thinking and scientific problem solving skills in nursing practices.
  9. Uses interpersonal communication skills effectively in nursing practices.
  10. Uses necessary cognitive and psychomotor skills in nursing practices.
  11. Acts in accordance with professional values ​​and ethical principles by considering human and patient rights in nursing practices.
  12. Collaborates with the individual, family, healthcare team and other disciplines in nursing practices.
  13. Leads or takes a part in the activities that will contribute to the development of nursing.
